Evangelos Kallianiotis was a major donor as well. This private library, also after years of waiting, found housing in the Historical Library of Andritsaina.
Evangelos Kallianiotis, son of Dimitrios, was born on 4 August 1888 in Stemnitsa, Arcadia. He lived his childhood in Stemnitsa. He attended the primary school of Stemnitsa and the Gymnasion of Dimitsana.
At the age of 17 (1905), he went to America and settled in Boston, where he lived until 1967. According to information from Ms Paraskevi Fotinopoulou (his grand-daughter), during his long stay in Boston:
- He enlisted as a legionnaire in the US Army and went to France.
- He was involved in Literature and Philosophy.
- He worked in business establishing food and beverage retail stores.
- He was an avid bibliophile and book collector and thus created a private library including 4.341 volumes.
In 1967 he returned to Greece and settled in Athens. In 1970 he settled in Stemnitsa by love for nature, and lived there until his death (22/08/1981). During his stay in Stemnitsa (1970 – 1981), he contributed financially to the promotion and resolution of issues concerning the local community.
The former Director of the Library of Andritsaina Dimitrios Pringouris contributed so that Evangelos Kallianiotis donated his private library to Andritsaina. In 1983, the sole heirs of the estate of E. Kallianiotis, Tryfon and Georgia Fotinopoulos, donated by notarial act to the Library of Andritsaina his private collection of books, received by the Director Dimitrios Pringouris. This private collection consists of 4.341 volumes and contains a significant number of rare and precious titles.
The “E.Kallianiotis” collection today is exposed in an autonomous room bearing his name. In 2004, the Panhellenic Association of Friends of Andritsaina Library (Athens-Fribourg) donated the furniture equipment to house this collection.
